Water Pump Restoration

This job was very interesting. the water-pump needed to be restored to maintain part of the historical building requirements. Initially it started with a replacement handle, but I offered to recondition the exterior of the entire  pump. After doing some research, I realized that there was very little information about the origin or manufacturer of the pump itself. This style of pump was generally a utility style, made for drawing water from a ground source, usually located close to a barn, or other utility building. The original pump handle was a simple piece of straight pipe. The client asked to dress it up a bit, so I carved a curved handle out of white oak. the metal parts of the pump where sent for powder coating(they did a great job matching the original green), and the fasteners where replaced with polished stainless steel.
